The theme for Monday posts in June is Summer time Aspects.

The temps are getting hotter and the evenings are getting longer.

At our area the principle direction is completed at the barbeque grill.

Recent herbs are this type of deal with in spring and summer time. I make a normal night time walk across the lawn, deciding what I’ll use for dinner.

We’d like simple, however flavorful, aspect dishes….

And bear in mind – barley is not only for soup!

Barley with Chives

Garlic chives are also referred to as Chinese language Chives. They’re flat, fairly than spherical, and feature a definite garlic taste. They’ve white flora fairly than red.

  • 1 cup (250ml) rooster broth (or extra, relying on form of barley)
  • 2 tbs contemporary, snipped chives
  • 2 tbs contemporary, snipped garlic chives
  • 1 tbs contemporary, snipped basil
  • 1 tbs salad olive oil

  • Prepare dinner barley in broth till completed, stirring infrequently.
  • If all of the broth isn’t absorbed, drain.
  • Stir in olive oil, herbs and serve.

Notes

Use all common chives or no matter your favourite herb is.
