On January 15, South Korea showed the primary case of African swine fever (ASF) within the Gyeongbuk area which happened on a pig farm with about 480 animals positioned in Yeongdeok-gun, Gyeongsangbuk- do. In the past, ASF used to be reported best reported within the Gyeonggi and Gangwon areas.
A number of the biosecurity measures taken, detailed inspections will likely be performed on 4 pig farms throughout the quarantine zone (inside of a ten km radius of the affected farm) and 40 pig farms with an epidemiological dating with the outbreak farm.
