‘I Lifted Bricks for Tea’: How an MP Guy Overcame Adversity and Turned into DSP


A call between a sickle and a pen. That is what Santosh Kumar Patel, a deputy superintendent of police (DSP) rank officer, was once confronted with whilst rising up. His circle of relatives lived in poverty within the Devgaon village of Madhya Pradesh with meagre assets. 

A sq. meal was once difficult to come back through. “On just right days we ate rice, the remainder of the times we ate best daliya (damaged wheat). Every so often, after we didn’t have wheat, we ate jowar (sorghum) rotis and borrowed wheat rotis from our pals in class,” the 31-year-old recollects in a dialog with The Higher India.

Regardless of witnessing poverty from a tender age, Santosh learnt the worth of laborious paintings from his father, a mason, and his mom, a farm labourer. “I aspire to proceed serving the general public and higher the picture of the police; best criminals must concern the police. In my investigations, I make sure that blameless persons are by no means put in the back of bars,” says Santosh, who selected the pen.
