Ultimate week was once so filled with information, from peregrines to floods, that I needed to skip my standard “Observed This Week” file. In the meantime Spring isn’t protecting nonetheless. Wildflowers are blooming and the early ones have already long past to seed. Right here’s a number of my very best pictures from remaining week, April 8-11.

Above and underneath, 3 pictures from Frick Park. All of those are alien and a few are invasive however they’re beautiful.

  • Coltsfoot (Tussilago farfara), at best, is located in disturbed soil.
  • Speedwell’s (Veronica persica) tiny plants bloom in fields and lawns. A dewdrop dangled above this one from a blade of grass.
  • Lesser Celandine (Ficaria verna) is plentiful alongside creeks and river banks together with Duck Hole and 9 Mile Run. Very invasive, however beautiful, which is why it was once imported as a lawn plant.
