This week on Fourth of July morning, the birds have been lovely excellent at Frick Park however the flora, bugs and an important mushroom have been even higher.

Humidity beaded the threshold of a leaf whilst an ideal spangled fritillary (Speyeria cybele) consumed butterfly weed (Asclepias tuberosa).

A spider concealed some of the wingstem leaves.

A Canada thistle (Cirsium arvense) had woven itself thru a chainlink fence. In spite of its invasive nature, American goldfinches love its seeds.

This mushroom no doubt stuck our consideration alongside the 9 Mile Run Path. I feel it’s a wooden ear mushroom, Auricularia species, whose “ears” seem like they’re product of jelly.

If what mushroom that is — or if I’ve misidentified anything else — please go away a remark with the solution.
