Two weeks in the past you could have noticed movies at the Web of a big swarm of dragonflies at a Rhode Island seashore on 27 July. The swarms at Westerly and South Kingstown had been fortunately transient.
Entomologists recognized the insects as blue dashers (Pachydiplax longipennis) which spend their lives at quiet freshwater ponds and marshes however will swarm to hunt out new ponds when their inhabitants is prime. The 27 July insects had been at the transfer to in other places.
Blue dashers are not unusual within the U.S. and are increasing into southern Canada. The men are beautiful blue with inexperienced eyes, whilst the ladies and younger men are black and yellow.
