On September 26 and September 28, 2023, Taiwan notified the WTO that it was once invoking volume-based particular safeguards on imports of alternative rooster cuts and beef stomach, respectively, consistent with a contemporary US Division of Agriculture (USDA) International Agricultural Knowledge Community (GAIN) document.
Between January 1 and September 5, 2023, Taiwan imported 9,211.2 MT of alternative rooster cuts. Between January 1 and 9-11, 2023, Taiwan imported 15,160 MT of beef stomach. Either one of those volumes exceed the required cause ranges for the activation of the particular safeguards.
Accordingly, Taiwan will impose further tasks, an identical to an extra one 3rd of the standard tasks, from the date of the activation till December 31, 2023.
