19 Might 2024

The pouring rain ended the day prior to this morning simply in time for our stroll in Schenley Park.

Day trip at Schenley Park, 18 Might 2024 (picture by means of Kate St. John)

From middle of the night till 8am 1.16 inches of rain fell. The entire streams had been speeding and Panther Hole Lake was once muddy and entire. It appeared as though the lake had risen 8-12 inches since I noticed it the day ahead of.

Some of the cattails we discovered busy red-winged blackbirds together with a feminine amassing nesting subject material who scanned the sky for predators (at most sensible). The closing time I noticed red-wings development nests was once in mid April. Used to be this a 2d nesting? Or had prime water flooded nests that now had been being rebuilt?

Why was once the feminine blackbird scanning the sky? She most probably noticed a red-tailed hawk shuttling meals to a few kids of their nest at the bridge.

All advised we noticed 27 species of birds plus one doe, 5 greenbacks and an lively beehive.

I’m so satisfied it stopped raining!
