Germany had round 161,700 cattle farms as of March 1, 2023. Consistent with the Federal Statistical Place of business (Destatis), in keeping with the overall result of the 2023 agricultural construction survey, the selection of cattle farms fell via round 4% or via 7,100 farms between 2020 (round 168,800 farms) and 2023. In 2023, 63% of the approximate general of 255,000 farms in Germany saved cattle. The share of cattle farms thus remained virtually consistent in comparison to 2020 (64%).
Pig census down via 15% in 3 years
27,600 farms in Germany saved a complete of twenty-two.4 million pigs as of March 1, 2023. 3 years previous, there have been 31,900 farms with 26.3 million pigs. The selection of pig farms has thus fallen via 4,300 or 13% in 3 years. The pig inhabitants diminished via 15% or 3.9 million animals between 2020 and 2023, with the common selection of animals in keeping with farm falling from 826 to 810. Neatly over part (62%) of all pigs in Germany are saved in Decrease Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia.
