third Egg at Pitt Laid at 2am

19 March 2024

This morning Carla laid her 3rd egg of the 2024 season at 2:01am. As a result of her nest is visual on a timestamped digicam, I will be able to let you know she laid the third egg 52.87 hours after Egg#2. (Egg#2 was once 53.14 hours after Eggnumber one.)

Right here’s a video of the egg-laying second, sped as much as double-time, which occurs to make it obtrusive.

As of 6:29am Carla was once no longer but incubating the eggs even though she covers them to stay them from freezing in this chilly day.

Incubation typically starts when the feminine has laid her next-to-last egg. Is Carla going to put 5 eggs? Or will she start incubation in the following couple of hours. In the end, Carla is a brand new mom who’s studying as she is going.

Watch her at the Nationwide Aviary Falconcam at Univ of Pittsburgh.
